Description
Aristotle was already familiar with the principle in ancient Greek times: light falls through a small hole into a darkened room, creating an upside-down image of the outside space. Magical! It kept artists and scholars busy for centuries and also paved the way to photography.
In this workshop, you will learn how to build your own pinhole camera (also known as a camera obscura), which you can design however you like. We will then capture images of the surroundings and experiment with them.
Chilean artist and photographer Constanza Meléndez will lead the workshop. Her work focuses on the individual and their social context and uses the genre of portrait photography as part of her artistic practice. Together you create portraits with the pinhole camera!
On all four Advent Saturdays, the Kunstareal team will provide information about the pre-Christmas program in the individual houses and hand out small gifts. A young wind quartet, consisting of students from the University of Music and Theater, will spread musical Christmas cheer.
