Description

For the opening weekend of “Various Others”, Museum Brandhorst invites you to a breakfast vernissage. The third “Flag Commission” by Lily van der Stokker, the intervention “no: tongue breaks and thin fire is racing under skin” by Maria VMier and the exhibition “Andy Warhol & Keith Haring: Party of Life” will be presented.

„Flag Commission“ by Lily van der Stokker
Dutch artist Lily van der Stokker design flags for the poles in front of the museum that were originally intended to carry advertisements. Van der Stokker, known for her installations and murals, shows in this a list of words revolving around drugstore articles, items of clothing, household objects, physical ailments and insults. More about the „Flag Commission“ by Lily van der Stokker.

Maria VMier: „no: tongue breaks and thin fire is racing under skin“

From 03.09 to 15.09.2024 an intervention by the artist Maria VMier occupies the center of Cy Twombly's Roses Gallery on the upper floor of Museum Brandhorst. Together with many companions, she explores the possibilities of an erotic, community-building appropriation of the museum. Andy Warhol & Keith Haring: Party of Life

With “Andy Warhol & Keith Haring. Party of Life,” Museum Brandhorst presents the world’s first comprehensive institutional exhibition dedicated to the two artists. The title of the show borrows the motto from Keith Haring’s birthday celebrations: “Party of Life” relays the cosmos of the 1980s, of MTV, discos, vogueing, hip-hop, New Wave, and graffiti. The exhibition traces Haring’s and Warhol’s friendship in this environment. With over 130 works it reveals parallels in their artistic identity, their openness to cooperation and collaborative projects, as well as well as a shared vision: Art should be accessible to all and reach as many people as possible.
