Description

STENCIL, SCREEN PRINTING, FABRIC

Have you seen the T-shirts in the Andy Warhol and Keith Haring exhibition? There you can discover T-shirts printed with pictures, figures or text. But how does the color get onto the fabric? We use a special technique for this: screen-printing. Andy Warhol, for example, created many of his artworks using screen-printing.

In the workshop, you can learn this technique and try it out for yourself. Create your own simple image using scissors and paper. We will then print this stencil onto fabric bags using the screen, paint and another tool—a squeegee. At the end you will have your own wearable work of art. You are also welcome to bring shirts, bags, dresses or other fabrics. Please note that our colors hold best on natural fibers.

The workshop will take place in the ticket-free area of the Factory space (lower level) and is run by the artist Tabitha Nagy.

ABOUT THE KIDS’ FACTORY

The Kids’ Factory is an offer for you kids. Every Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. you can get creative there according to your mood. Changing techniques and themes entice you to take part in varied and age-appropriate artistic activities. Whether drawing, painting, using different printing techniques or dancing, whether analog, digital or hybrid—we will take you into the world of colors and shapes and appeal to your imagination and creative spirit. Please bring your parents along to accompany you. You can join in at any time.
